Theatre Stream:

   Tove Jansson wrote that the theatre is: “where people are shown what they could be if they wanted to; what they might like to be if they only dared.” and we whole-heartedly agree. From the amphitheaters of ancient Greece, to the Royal Courts of India and China, to the modern world of television and movies, actors from every culture on earth have entertained us for centuries, and inspired us to reach for things far greater than just ourselves.

   But putting on a show is not the only reason to delve into this universe. Do you know what the single, greatest fear for people the world over is? If you said “death” or “spiders”, you are very wrong. The greatest fear that people have, the world over, is public speaking. One of the most unexpected benefits of study in the theatrical arts is that students grow an enormous amount of confidence in who they are as members of the human race, and what they have to say in the world seems as though it does not care. So much more than just learning lines, stagecraft is all about relating: to other actors, to the audience, and to yourself. Confidence, self-assurance, wisdom, acceptance, and quick thinking are just a few of the benefits of stepping into the world of theatre.

   Our Theatre stream currently includes group classes in "Theatre", a catch-all class which touches on things like acting (character development, timing, memorisation, improvisation,) stagecraft (movement, pace, ensemble skills) and theatre studies (sets, sound & lighting, directing, backstage, street-theatre,) We also offer private lessons in both acting and singing for those wanting to hone their skills to a fine point.
